Validating Priorities: As a Continuous Process

Product Managers get tons of input on what to build and how to do it. Stakeholder input, user research and feedback, customer requests, internal ideas…not to mention – inspiration from the outside world. Collecting and prioritizing them is a big part of the job.
But in a job that requires so many to do so much, without potentially – direct oversight or accountability, it’s extra-important that everyone feels heard. It’s equally important to ensure that the focus is on the right thing — the ‘real’ right thing. Not any one individual, leader, or groups ‘pet project’ (including/especially your own!!).

So how do you ensure that you’re capturing that correctly in your validation process…and then (here’s the toughie!), how do you make process continuous – versus merely ‘cyclical’ (we define priorities, we validate, we build/release, and then we…start over).
